The traditions of San Teodoro

San Teodoro occupies the extreme border south orients them of the Gallura, that part, historically, came defined Gallura d'Oviddè, from the name of the medieval villa that was perhaps curatoria center of Orfili in the sentence of Gallura. The Gallurese is spoken to you, that analogous language to the Còrso is one. They are celebrated knows San Teodoro (celebrates the festivity to you the third week of June), Sant' Andrea (in the fraction of Montipitrosu, celebrates the first week of June) and Sant' Antonio from Padova (in the fraction of Straula, celebrates the second week of June). To this last Saint, in the fractions of Straula and 17 the the 16 Suaredda it is dedicated "lu foculoni" that one carries out and January.

Center of spread of the gallurese culture and San Teodoro is, like gia pointed out, the ICIMAR (Istitito of the Civilizations of the Sea), caretaker of the Archaeological Museum and the communal and organizing Library of various conventions during l’year. In 2004 Dictionary has been realized from the Icimar di San Teodoro the Vocabulàriu Gaddhurésu-Italianu (Gallurese-Italian), work of Salvatore Brandanu (in the photo). Some years ago moreover a traditional dancing-school is been born, a plan still cured is to the inside that to the outside of the school, thanks to which it has been constituted the group minifolk Auser that in three seasons summery has already made one 70 st of exhibitions in the Sardinian public squares.
